Course Goal:

Participants learn and apply the basic theory and methods of seismic stratigraphy for exploration and exploration.

Course Objectives:

This course emphasizes the understanding of the seismic system and interprets seismic section, to develop a geologic model, and to prepare subsurface maps.  It also relates the subsurface stratigraphy to well data as well as identify structural style and create basic stratigraphic framework.

Course Outline:

1. Fundamentals of geological controls and wave propagation, reflection, refraction and diffraction of seismic waves
2. Seismic data acquisition parameters and processing parameters on the impact of interpretation.
3. Basic interpretation techniques 2-D and 3-D seismic data.
4. Seismic contouring
5. Fault interpretation
6. Velocity interpretation
7. Hydrocarbon indicators
8. Structure and stratigraphic modeling
9. Play and prospects
