Course Goal:
Participants learn and apply the basic theory and methods of seismic stratigraphy for exploration and exploration.
Course Objectives:
This course emphasizes the understanding of the seismic system and interprets seismic section, to develop a geologic model, and to prepare subsurface maps. It also relates the subsurface stratigraphy to well data as well as identify structural style and create basic stratigraphic framework.
Course Outline:
- Fundamentals of geological controls and wave propagation, reflection, refraction and diffraction of seismic waves
- Seismic data acquisition parameters and processing parameters on the impact of interpretation.
- Basic interpretation techniques 2-D and 3-D seismic data.
- Seismic contouring
- Fault interpretation
- Velocity interpretation
- Hydrocarbon indicators
- Structure and stratigraphic modeling
- Play and prospects
