Course Goal:
Relates the subsurface stratigraphy to seismic reflectors and having correct velocity analysis. Development of synthetic seismogram.
Course Objectives:
- This course provides the use of log to develop the synthetic seismogram & relating the seismic data with geological formation. This integrates & correlates the seismic time with the geological depth information. This will relate the seismic signal to the geological formation related to this seismic signal.
- This assists the interpreter of log and seismic data in making more accurate estimations of subsurface geologic conditions and properties of the geological formation and develops the most accurate description of subsurface.

- Introduction & Overview.
- Why log & seismic data often disagree?
- Difference in the two techniques and their implications on interpretation.
- The synthetic seismogram as a link between the two data sets.
- The relationship between geological & seismic properties.
- Trace inversion as a bridge between the two sets of data.
- Developing and using techniques of conditioning the two data sets.
- Techniques which apply to seismic data (amplitude, resolution, stacking & filtering, data reduction & editing, preservation, wavelet processing, deconvolution, corrections & residual statistics.
- Seismic noise – its recognition, detection, evaluation and elimination.
